Mr. Tomás is a triple board-certified Nurse Practitioner specializing in Neonatal and Pediatric Primary and Acute Care. He started in healthcare as an Emergency Medical Technician in 2002. He found a passion caring for children and their families, thus beginning a long journey into neonatal and pediatric nursing and nurse practitioner education and practice. He obtained a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of New Mexico (UNM) in 2005. He began his nursing career in the NICU and pediatric specialty care units at UNM Children’s Hospital in Albuquerque while simultaneously completing a Master of Science in nursing administration from UNM in 2007. Mr. Tomás obtained a second Masters of Science as a neonatal nurse practitioner (NNP) at Arizona State University in Phoenix in 2009 while also working at the NICU and PICU at Phoenix Children’s Hospital. He became a board-certified neonatal nurse practitioner in 2010.
He moved to Dallas to work in the NICU in the Baylor Healthcare System, caring for some of the smallest and most medically complex babies in the DFW metroplex. In 2015 Mr. Tomás completed additional post-graduate education in Primary Care and Acute Care Pediatrics (CPNP-PC & AC) from The University of Texas in Arlington with most of his clinical training at Children’s Medical Centers in Dallas and Plano
with a special focus on complex care in their low-birthweight clinic, specialty care clinics, and the PICU.
He currently practices as an NNP at 6 different hospitals in the DFW MetroPlex and as a PNP at Pediatric Health Specialists in Irving, TX.
